Wishing Well // Cowboy Boots

If you have been reading my blog for awhile you'll know I have a fondness for boots - 1 pair in particular! I want to find a new pair for Summer so I can clomp around in pretty dresses and cowboy boots.

I can't decide if I want black or brown, normally I'd gravitate towards black so I'm a little worried I wouldn't wear brown ones if I bought them...argh! decisions!!

So this little feature is another addition to my blog - well, more like bringing back an old feature! A little wishlist of things I want/need/admire...

What are you looking out for this season? I'm kind of sad Winter is over, I love dressing up all cosy and warm!

DIY Storage Solutions - Jewellery

I'm always after pretty, cheap ways to store things around my house, and these seemed perfect to store my jewellery. I found them at the Mosgiel Salvation Army a little while ago and they were a bargain at only a couple of dollars each! 

I use the little plate for my little earrings and the sugar bowl (I think that's what it is) for my larger, dangly ones. I keep seeing more of them at the store so I need to think of what else I could keep in them!

How do you store your jewellery? Do you hang up you necklaces, etc?

Road Trip - Day Trip to Central Otago

I packed myself a picnic lunch today and headed off on a solo road trip to Central Otago. I headed up the hill towards Middlemarch (where the annual Singles Ball is being held tonight!) and stopped at a rest area over-looking a valley to eat my picnic. The weather improved the further away from Dunedin I got which was nice!

After a tasty picnic of french bread, sundried tomatoes, olives, salami, creme eggs and sparkling grape juice I continued on to Middlemarch where I picked up a soy hot chocolate at The Kissing Gate Cafe - so worth it!

On the way to Ranfurly I had to pull over and take some photos of the trees lining the road - the colours are beautiful at this time of year!

 

I stopped at Ranfurly for a Jelly Tip ice cream and parked up by the side of the road to eat it and take in the view.

It was such a fun trip and I can't wait to do another one now! Perhaps I'll make another trip in July when there is snow on the hills.

I woke up to a summery 4 degrees this morning, the coolest it has been so far this year! Although the forecast predicted a temperature rise during the day, I couldn't resist wearing my new acquisition - this gorgeous, cosy, cape-like jersey I found yesterday at the Salvation Army Store.

I went for a cruise on the route my Dad taught me to drive on last year, and after some dirt roads and train tracks stopped at this quiet little spot to take my photos. The only interruption was a huge tractor that I thought was a train going past until it roared around the corner - heart attack!!

I hope you'll notice my new buttons I have included up the top by my banner - click on them to check out all the posts labelled with the headings shown!! They took me hours to figure out, but I got there in the end and I'm pretty happy with the result.

I'm so close to 30 followers, I can't believe it!! Thanks so much everyone, I'm willing that number over the 30 mark, I can't believe how many I've gathered lately. Thank you!!

I went and spent some of my vouchers I got for Christmas once I got back from my summer holiday. Perfect timing as there is lots of sales on at the moment!

Finally got a few items I had been looking for for awhile. I love it when you finally find exactley what you wanted!

I love planning my outfits before I wear them! I can quite happily spend an evening playing "dress-ups" and trying out different combinations of clothes and accessories. These are some combo's I have come up with lately, I'm looking forward to pulling them out for different occasions.

I have included one dressy evening-out outfit, and casual (still sparkley!) outfit and a daytime outfit. i do like plain coloured basics in black and I add a touch of sparkle - I think it has the same effect as colour!! There is nothing like driving down the motorway with the radio up, the sun streaming in the window and sequins causing a disco-ball effect on the roof of the car...

DIY: Studded sweatshirt

I'm sure I saw a top like this on the Internet somewhere, ever since I have wanted to create my own version. I saw this post on College Fashion about sporty sweatshirts and after a visit to my local Cotton On I had my very own sweatshirt for only $30!

It was a slight challenge finding the studs, after a visit to Spotlight where I had no joy, I resorted to good old Trademe and found exactly what I wanted. 50 x 10mm pyramid studs for $7.50. Sweet! I was a little worried about attaching them, but as the sweatshirt is thin cotton it was no problem. Now I think I have a stud obsession though, as I have around 30 of them left...what to "stud" next??

It's very easy to do - simply push the points through the material and fold over to hold in place. I would recommend hand washing the top as the washing machine is a bit rough on the studs.

This sweatshirt is great for weekends, I love a bit of detail and it goes great with my gray-wash jeans and shiny silver sneakers!
