Life as I Know it // Working From Home

I talked to my boss the other week and luckily I'm going to be able to continue working for the same company but from home in Invercargill. But I need some advice from my friends!

I'll have to set up a little home office. For a start I will be staying with the bf's parents while we look for a house, so my first home office will be temporary. I need some advice from all of you!

I'm a little worried I'll get out of bed, put on my dressing gown and start working. I'm not sure that's the best idea motivation-wise! Plus if I wanted to go anywhere at lunch time I would spend half my lunch hour geting ready to leave the house. I will still be working standard 9-5pm hours as I need to keep in contact with my boss during the day when I'm working on projects.

One thing I am looking forward to is being able to spend a bit more time on my blog and baking and cooking at home. With the complete cut down in travel time to work and being able to switch from my work computer to my personal computer in a couple of minutes hopefully I'll get some more exciting blog posts done!

Do you work from home or know someone who does? What tips do you have to stay motivated/keep on top of work? Have you seen/written any blog posts that will help me? What sort of things should I have in my home office? (apart from a computer, etc which will be provided) Help!!

Outfit Post - Lavender Sky Above Me

Black Jacket - Kmart, Lavender 1 button shirt - Glassons, Lace Bodysuit - Shop on Taieri,
Lace Skirt - Shop on Taieri, Black Tights - Kmart, Black Boots - The Warehouse,
Star Earrings - Lovisa

I wore this outfit last week and I liked it so much I pulled it out again yesterday. I picked up this shirt from Glassons last week - I still have a bit of credit left from my birthday vouchers so I'm using it up slowly! I love how it's all floaty, perfect for layering over a fitted skirt. II'm wearing my lace body suit underneath - just a touch of lace was peaking out, it looked so pretty. I love these photos!! I got so many good ones and it only took about 20 minutes - awesome!

I've worn this jacket over every outfit for about 4 days straight - I wanted something I could use throughout all the seasons and I think this jacket will be perfect! I went up a size so I could layer cardigans and jerseys underneath it for winter. I'm trying to build a capsule wardrobe of pieces that go with everything else, it's hard work but I'm getting there. I know they say spend a bit of money on pieces that will last a few years, but I'm prone to changing my mind and usually the ones I don't spend much money on are the favourites I keep for ages.

I love the sunrises and sunsets here in winter. Mainly because for once I don't have to drive to work with the sun in my eyes - at the moment it's behind me both ways! It's so nice driving along the motorway and watching the sky change from blue, to lavender and peach out of my window.

I received exciting news today - I'll be heading down to Invercargill next week to review the Royal NZ Ballet's 'Stravinsky Selection'. I'm looking forward to it! It's been a while since I have done a review, and I'm hearing very good things so far about the show. Plus Karen Walker designed the costumes!

I hope everyone is enjoying the start of their week, I'm looking forward to Queens Birthday weekend this weekend and a 3 day holiday!

Outfit Post - Leopard in the Black

Black Coat - Shop on Taieri, Leopard Print Shirt - Mosgiel Salvation Army, Tutu Tulle Skirt - Recycle Boutique, Boots - The Warehouse, Suitcase Bag - Recycle Boutique, "Love" ring - Lovisa

Finally a new outfit post! I have been waiting patiently all week for a clear patch in the weather. Finally today it wasn't raining at lunch time, so I rushed out to take some pictures.

This spot is close to where I have taken other outfit photos before, such as these ones. Its such a good spot!! There was a bit of traffic today so I was constantly running to grab my tripod from the middle of the road. I'm pretty happy with the photos though!

It was pretty windy so I ended up with some action shots. I'm wearing my new favourite coat I found at the Shop on Taieri the other day. I'm basically living in it!! I'm also wearing my new tutu skirt which is so fun - I love feeling like a ballerina. My bag is also from Recycle Boutique, it's kind of like the satchel I was after ages ago. It fits my camera perfectly meaning I can carry it around with me all the time, and I know its safe because the bag is pretty rigid, like a mini suitcase!

I'm going to the ID fashion show tomorrow night, which I'm so excited about!! I can't wait. I went to the Emerging Designer show last night and it was awesome - there was young designers from NZ, Australia and Europe there, and a whole range of different collections, 26 in total!! Check out the local paper, the ODT for some pictures.

I have to photograph the item I'm going to give away to you guys, I'll get it done tomorrow so check back later in the weekend!!

Weekly Wishlist - Label Maker

Well, yes this isn't very exciting really, but I have wanted one of these for years and have never got round to it. So this is my reminder to myself I NEED one now, I have to label all my different containers of colours and miscellaneous cake decorating supplies so I know whats what - I just opened up my box of stuff to tidy it up to take to class next week and it's a bit of a mess! This handy little tool would fix that up pretty quick I reckon...

What's in my Hand Bag?

For a start, I love my handbag! I saw it last year and visited it many times, sneaking a look at the price tag and wishing for it to come down in price. Finally this year it was reduced - and now it's mine! I swear I could fit a small child in there, but hey, it fits everything I need with room to fit a cardy or scarf if needed and my lunch box. Better than my old handbag!

I live in a climate that is quite unpredicable and I hate being unprepared! I'm the person who when a friend needs a hair tie, bobby pin, panadol, bandaid..I've always got one. Here is a list of my handbag essentials.

1. Socks. Weird? Yes. Handy? Yes! I always get cold feet in cars, buses, planes, at work...there's always an occasion for socks.

2. Umbrella. I quite often forget a jacket!

3. Plain lip balm. SPF is good - handy for dry lips, skin, etc. This vasaline one is awesome!

4. Fold-up flats. These are great - i can wear uncomfortable shoes and get some relief later on.

5. Herbal tea bags. I always have a few spare in my bag, I can't drink coffee and it's always a bit akward when I visit a friend and they only have normal tea or coffee...so I pull out my little tea bag and I can still have a hot drink!

6. Sunglasses. Prepared for all weather!

7. Panadol, Bandaids, Rescue Remedy, Anti-Histimens. I grouped these together - basic medical things. Rescue remedy is amazing - a few drops on the tongue and it'll calm you down when you are wound up and anxious!

8. Hair tie, bobby pins, small brush. Great for touch ups or bad-hair-days.

9. Hand Cream. Again, i use a Vasaline one. dry hands aren't fun!

10. Diary and pen. To keep records of appointments, bills, birthdays, etc. I love this cute one - there is a whole series of these with a NZ theme - jandals, pohutakawa, ferns, etc.

11. Solar-powered torch. Sooo handy when you forgot to turn the outside light on and you can't see the key hole, or like me you live in a mini forest with a tiny path to navigate!

12. Business Cards. You never know when an opportunity to get your name out there will pop up - plan ahead!

So thats my bag. Hope it gave you some tips on handy things for your bag!! Do you have any recommendations??
