Ahhh patience - sometimes it pays to be patient! I saw this maxi skirt at Cotton On a few months ago, at the time I didn't want to spend $40 on it, so I waited....and picked it up the other day for $10. Bargain! 

I love clothes that can be worn in multiple seasons. I can't wait to eventually go travelling (I've been meaning to since I left polytech, that was 5 years ago now!) and I'm forever buying clothes I can imagine wearing in far off places like wandering through markets in Morocco or drinking coffee in a cafe in Paris. I can't wait to wear this skirt in summer with a bright singlet top and some strappy sandals!

Hopefully soon I'll get a chance to post some of my work outfits, not just my weekend ones! There's a bit of difference between the two. Hope you're having a great start to your week!

So with a new job comes a slight change in wardrobe. I've gone from a Retail Salesperson where I got to wear what ever I wanted basically, to a corporate environment where I'm still trying to figure out the dress code.

I've had a thing for long sleeved dresses for awhile. My first was a black one with sequins all over it - the perfect NY's or birthday dress. This one is a recent purchase - I love the pattern, it's a good length & I can layer a singlet & tights under it. The boots were a good find in Melbourne a month ago - not too high & still pretty comfortable after a full day of wearing them.

I'm loving all the leaf-covered things that have been around this Autumn. I actually got given my earrings a couple of years ago but have been wearing them no-stop lately. My scarf was a purchase from my last job & it also has a leaf pattern on the bottom bit.

What have you been wearing all autumn? Or if it's Spring where you are - are you pulling out all your flower-patterned dresses?

 I actually wore this outfit on Tuesday and had planned to take outfit photos during my lunch break but I got distracted by the Salvation Army Store....

So here we are, I took these on Thursday! Unfortunately it was raining so you guys get these lovely inside shots. I prefer outside, it's so much brighter and the backgrounds are more interesting! The cute little Cocker Spaniel is my family dog Jesse, she said hello and then trotted off to the pantry door to wait for a biscuit! (I'm staying at my parents before I move to Invercargill)

I've actually worn this outfit quite a few times since I got these pants a month or so ago. It's my "I'm feeling lazy and I want to be comfortable and warm while I sit at my desk, working" outfit. I can't wait till summer when I can use this pretty lavender cardy as a throw-over on cool summer nights. I'm thinking I need a new little white dress...?

What does you favourite cosy winter work outfit involve? Mine is either this or a maxi t-shirt dress, long cardy, tights and boots! 

Cake Decorating // Gardener Pop

Two weeks ago it was my Granddad's (well, Pop's!) birthday. My Mum made him a yummy Hummingbird cake with banana and pineapple in it and I made a cake topper to go on it.

My Grandad loves his garden and growing vegetables. At Christmas we often have tasty new potatoes fresh out of his garden and me and my sister used to climb over the carrots, etc to get to the peas and eat them straight out of the pods!

I was so happy with how this came out. Making a standing fondant person is hard work! He has strategically placed toothpicks to help him stand up. It probably took me 3 hours to make the whole thing. It was worth it, my Grandad loved it and took a picture of it on his camera too!

Have you ever had a play with fondant icing? Would anyone like any tips? I have an entire cake-sized container full of different coloured fondant at home!

I've been yawning my head off for the last hour or so now. Today was finally moving day and I've spent the last week packing everything I own into boxes. I'm such a nerd, I've kept all the boxes all my kitchen appliances came in, so it was a matter of finding the right box, then working out the jigsaw puzzle that is fitting the appliance back into the box without cords and lids spilling out from the sides! The last 2 were a complete fail, the fan got halfway in before I gave up and the guitar hero got left for the bf to sort out!

We've lived in this house for a year and a half, the longest we've lived somewhere for the past 5 years. Leases in Dunedin are ruled by the University calender, and typically run for a year before you move on to the next place. This house was the first place that felt like home. We only had 1 other flatmate (instead of up to 4 others in previous years!) so it was nice and quiet. I love this house, it just fits me perfectly. It's quirky, cute and compact, me in a nutshell! It's bittersweet leaving it now, there's so much that could be done to it to make it better, but onwards and upwards I guess!

I took these photos among the leftover furniture in my bedroom. Don't worry, I wasn't moving stuff in these clothes!! I got this shirt last week. As soon as I saw it I though "icecream shirt!" a perfect addition to my wardrobe for spring and summer. It was a spur of the moment decision to take some photos before I left. I almost had a little cry at the end. I really will miss this house. I know some people can travel through life with hardly any possessions, but to me all the things I own are a little extension of me, and I always struggle to give them up.

I took these photos outside my house last weekend, so they're a little bit old! I love this little house, it's a art deco townhouse. It's very compact which is great when you're trying to heat it and it has character and personality which I think every home needs! This is the view of the house once you emerge from the path through the trees before you get to the front door. It's so nice living hidden in the trees over looking the North End of Dunedin. 

This was my Saturday outfit for running some errands, including a visit to the local bakery for a cream donut, my weakness when it comes to bakeries!

I have had this tulle skirt for a while but haven't got around to photographing it until now. It's quite a fun skirt to wear and I always feel like a bit of a ballerina when I put it on! 

So many outfit posts include these boots. I do wear them all the time, and for the price I paid and the amount of wear they are getting I think they're holding up well!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. The bf made a quick weekend visit (I haven't seen him for 3 weeks) before heading to Invercargill to start his new job. I'll be going down in about 3 weeks, I've told my boss at work I'm leaving so it seems real now! Exciting times ahead!

I drove to my usual spot for some outfit shots today, but unfortunately the digger was actually going for once (see it stationary here!) so I headed out on to the country roads to find a new site. After about 15 minutes of driving around I came to the “Tairei Blokes Shed” I had driven past it before and thought it would be great as a background for outfit shots and today it even matched my cardigan!!

While it was a beautiful sunny day with hardly any clouds, there was a crisp wind meaning a bit of layering in the clothes department was needed. I felt like a bit of colour today, hence the cobalt blue cardigan and my matching crochet flower broach I picked up from the Shop on Taieri a while ago. I wore my grey cotton tights under my skirt and a white singlet under my new lace t-shirt (check it out here) to keep nice and warm.

I’m having so much fun layering all my clothes at the moment for warmth! It’s kind of nice to not have to wear a jacket inside at work and instead just wear an extra cardigan. Then I don’t get asked if I’m cold every 5 minutes!

Sorry I haven’t posted for a bit, I have no internet at home anymore so I’m going to stop off at my parents and cue up some posts to last for the next little while!

This weekend I might check out the Moxie Market at the Percolator Cafe on Friday night, followed by a look around the op-shops on Saturday and possibly some casual drinks with friends that night. Should be good!

What I packed - Queens Birthday Weekend

I got back yesterday from a little road trip over the long weekend. The bf and I had an event to attend in Invercargill then we headed through to Cromwell to check out the new house his parents have just built up there. There was a bit of travelling around and I've spent the last couple of days sniffling away with a cold but I'm gradually getting better thank goodness! 

These are some of the things I took with me this weekend. I needed something dressy for the event I was going to, then comfortable clothes for lounging around in Cromwell and travelling. 

1. Leopard Print Bag - Cotton On. I use this bag as my gym bag usually, but it's the perfect size for a weekend bag. 

2. Studded High Tops - The Warehouse. Perfect for a casual outfit with jeans.

3. Grey Leopard Bag - Strandbags. I used this when going to the event on Saturday night - its great not having to find somewhere to leave my bag as I can just wear it the whole time if need be.

4. Purple Check Shirt - Farmers. Just right for a casual weekend outfit with jeans.

5. Velvet Dress - Shop on Taieri. What I wore to the event on Saturday. You can see it here.

6. Lace Bodysuit - Shop on Taieri. To wear under my velvet dress

7. Grey Leopard Circle Scarf - Trendz. Snugly and warm and could also be worn as a hat.

8. Black Ankle Boots - The Warehouse. My go to boots when I want something dressy but easy to walk in!

9. Grey Merino Jersey - Mosgiel Salvation Army. A perfect layering piece for cold weather. 

10. Purple Leopard Scarf - 1,2,3 Dollar Shop - Adds a pop of colour to mainly grey and black basics

11. "The Girl Who kicked the Hornets Nest" - Borrowed from the bf for the weekend. I loved the movies!

12. Sequin Cardy - Valley Girl - great for layering over a t-shirt and under a jacket. 

I topped up these items with black jeans, my coat seen here and different earrings (dangly ones for night, studs for during the day) It was great for a change to have a whole bunch of items that could create different outfits depending on what the weather was like or what I got up to. I used purple as my accent colour with my shirt and scarf both in this shade. 

It was a pretty fun weekend, meeting new people, watching a couple of pretty entertaining soccer games and relaxing in a brand new house! It was fun checking out where I'll be moving to in a month or so! The bf has a job lined up so I will be following him down to Invercargill soon. I'm glad it's only a couple of hours from Dunedin and not too far to go to catch up with all my family. I'll have to start packing soon!

Well, there wasn't men at work, just a lonely digger surrounded by rubble! I jumped out of the car and hurried over to take some pictures before the digger driver returned. You should have seen my boots afterwards - there was a nice crusty layer of mud around the bottom! If I had of been wearing shorts perhaps I might have looked like I belonged there....nah!

I love my skirt. I've only owned it for a week and have worn it 3 times. I had looked at it multiple times at Shop on Taieri before it disappeared one day and finally returned a couple of weeks later. I've worn it with a oversize jersey, thick tights and a scarf, as well as my new leather jacket, a lose white singlet and studded sandals for my birthday afternoon tea with the family.

My shirt is also a new favourite - as seen in my road trip photos here. It's a nice fit and I love the colours. I found this scarf the other day, perfectly purple, vintage and it has drawings of Italian buildings all over it - random and pretty!

I'm looking forward to the weekend now, 1 more weekday and I'm there. Bring on sleeping in, tasty breakfasts and hopefully some decent weather!
