Recipe - Raspberry Turkish Delight

I mentioned on Twitter the other day I was having a craving for Turkish delight. The plan was to stop by my local kebab shop (which rates at no. 3 on my list of favourite kebab shops in Dunedin!) to pick some up on the way home. Unfortunately the girl on the counter told me they no longer sell it – what to do?!

I headed home and pulled out my iPhone and found this recipe. It didn’t seem too difficult, so I decided to give it a go. I made mine raspberry flavoured as I didn’t have rose water at home. (Although I keep meaning to buy it) I also halved the recipe so I didn't have so much!

It came out not too bad, but I would recommend using a candy thermometer to make sure you are following the recipe closely. That’s definitely on my “next purchase” list now!

Have you ever made Turkish delight? What’s your favourite candy or sweet to make? Mine is chocolate fudge – although I’m still on the hunt for the perfect recipe!

First Giveaway - "Kismet" Story Earrings

Well here it is, to celebrate 30 followers, I wanted to do a giveaway! For my first giveaway I wanted to find something that was made locally and special to Dunedin, my home town. Last year my Mum gave me a pair of these earrings as a present, I immediately asked her where they were from as they were so unique! She gave me a business card, and later in the year we went to a viewing at a house of a whole range of earrings and necklaces.

This crafty lady hand-paints each pair of earrings so no two pairs are the same. Each pair of earrings has a story behind it, the ones I purchased and am giving away are based on graffiti art by Banksy. When I went to select a pair the other day I had a great chat with Sue who makes these earrings. She doesn't have a website, but I'm hoping I convinced her to start her own blog! If you would like to contact her about other pieces, email me at sparkleylining@gmail.com, and I will pass on her details to you!

All you have to do is either;

1. Follow me on Google over on the side bar, or
2. Follow me on Bloglovin, or
3. Follow me on Twitter, over on the side bar too!!

Leave me a comment telling me which one you followed me with, with your email address or blog address so I can contact you. Place a separate comment for each if you go for more than 1! The giveaway will end on the 30th of April (my birthday!!) when I will randomly draw a winner and I will let everyone know in the days after that.

I would love to do more crafty giveaways in the future, so if you have a crafty gift and you would be interested teaming up, email me and let me know!

Dance Review - Chocolate Zucchini Cookies

Photo taken (on my iPhone) during "Chocolate Zucchini Cookies" at the University of Otago

I'm sorry readers!! It has been quite a while since I last posted. Blame the bf "needing" to download a new Zombie map for his PlayStation for that, which used almost a whole months worth of Internet...

Well I have had a busy few weeks. Last weekend I reviewed Chocolate Zucchini Cookies, which was part of the Dunedin Fringe Festival 2011. I was a little apprehensive about it, as it was a bit different to the norm I was used to. I have to say though, it was AMAZING. So much work must have gone into selecting locations, selecting music and choreographing the dances. A lot of it was without music, and the performance flowed between different groups by head-nods or even just a look.

You can check out my review here, on the Theatreview website. Getting to see these amazing, unique performances is definitely one of the reasons I keep up with these reviews!!

In upcoming posts I will share some of my latest op-shop finds, including an awesome gold-thread jersey and a black tulle tutu skirt - I'm in love!!

I've also just joined Twitter - you can find me over on the sidebar ----> follow me and I will follow you!! I'll update latest clothing finds, photos and what I'm up to. This week I'm going to ID Fashion week, so look out for that!!
