Well, there wasn't men at work, just a lonely digger surrounded by rubble! I jumped out of the car and hurried over to take some pictures before the digger driver returned. You should have seen my boots afterwards - there was a nice crusty layer of mud around the bottom! If I had of been wearing shorts perhaps I might have looked like I belonged there....nah!

I love my skirt. I've only owned it for a week and have worn it 3 times. I had looked at it multiple times at Shop on Taieri before it disappeared one day and finally returned a couple of weeks later. I've worn it with a oversize jersey, thick tights and a scarf, as well as my new leather jacket, a lose white singlet and studded sandals for my birthday afternoon tea with the family.

My shirt is also a new favourite - as seen in my road trip photos here. It's a nice fit and I love the colours. I found this scarf the other day, perfectly purple, vintage and it has drawings of Italian buildings all over it - random and pretty!

I'm looking forward to the weekend now, 1 more weekday and I'm there. Bring on sleeping in, tasty breakfasts and hopefully some decent weather!

Recent Purchases - Cake Forks and Shiny Plates

I've started a couple of collections lately. Firstly, I've been finding little forks at the Salvation Army store to use as cake forks. I especially love the one with the little piggy on it and they one with the monkeys! I also think one might have originally lived on an aeroplane too...the best thing? All were under 50c each!

The other collection is a group of metal trays and plates. I love the tray I found a little while ago - I used it last weekend as a platter with cheese, bread, grapes and other goodies. Plus, it was only $5 - bargain! I also have 2 of the little bowls in the last picture - perfect for olives or sundried tomatoes. 

I love having things to look out for when I go op-shopping. It's always nice to have a guideline on what to look for, it stops me buying random stuff!!

I've been finding some vintage gold lately at my favourite op shops. I've also had good luck at a few other shops, so I thought I would share my latest finds with you. It's so nice to not spend so much money on clothes or accessories, but still buy special things that I will definitely get use out of!

I have a few new clothes to photograph too, hopefully there will be a break in the yucky weather so I can get outside and take some outfit pics! I would love a few more of those crisp, clear Autumn days Dunedin is famous for...

 As it was my 25th birthday on Saturday, I shouted my work mates morning tea on Friday morning to celebrate! I was relieved it was Friday. It had been a busy week, with the bf away on holiday and me in sole charge of the puppy, in-between catching up with friends and family and baking a birthday cake! I found this cosy white cardigan the other day at the Mosgiel Salvation Army Store, perfect for a casual Friday combined with my favourite motorcycle boots, jeans and a blue knitted flower I found at Shop on Taieri the other day.

I spent my birthday on Saturday having hot chocolate with my family, shopping and had some friends around that night to celebrate - a bit of dressing up, a few drinks and some dancing in town - it was good fun!

Thanks to those that entered my giveaway!! I will sort out the winner in the next couple of days. I hope everyone enjoyed their weekends, I didn't watch the royal wedding as I was driving to Christchurch to pick up the bf, but I did see Kate's dress - it was gorgeous!!

Easter Breakfast - Chocolate Pancakes

I love having a special breakfast on at least one day of the weekend, and as this weekend was a long one I decided to make my favourite chocolate pancakes this morning. 

A cafe called Capers in Dunedin makes the best pancakes in town (well I think so!) - I wanted to make the same kind of thing at home and after some trial and error came up with a recipe that gave the same results, but it was cheaper and without the 5 minute car ride!

I usually just make it on the fly and don't measure anything, its basically a piklet mix with cocoa added in the end. Perfect with kiwifruit, rock melon, honeydew melon, watermelon and thick Greek yogurt all covered in maple syrup. Yum!!

I hope everyone has been enjoying the long weekend, I've been road-tripping, catching up with family and having lots of cuddles with my chocolate lab Hershey!

Happy Easter and as today is ANZAC Day as well in New Zealand - Lest we forget, remember those that fought for our country.  

Road Trip - Day Trip to Central Otago

I packed myself a picnic lunch today and headed off on a solo road trip to Central Otago. I headed up the hill towards Middlemarch (where the annual Singles Ball is being held tonight!) and stopped at a rest area over-looking a valley to eat my picnic. The weather improved the further away from Dunedin I got which was nice!

After a tasty picnic of french bread, sundried tomatoes, olives, salami, creme eggs and sparkling grape juice I continued on to Middlemarch where I picked up a soy hot chocolate at The Kissing Gate Cafe - so worth it!

On the way to Ranfurly I had to pull over and take some photos of the trees lining the road - the colours are beautiful at this time of year!

 

I stopped at Ranfurly for a Jelly Tip ice cream and parked up by the side of the road to eat it and take in the view.

It was such a fun trip and I can't wait to do another one now! Perhaps I'll make another trip in July when there is snow on the hills.
