Cake Day Monday // Baby Shower Cupcakes

Red Blazer - Savemart Invercargill, Lace T-Shirt - Salvation Army Mosgiel,
Black and White Skirt - Kmart, Black Tights - Won from NZgirl and Razzamatazz,
Black Boots - The Warehouse, White Rose Earrings - The Warehouse

Hello Monday! I spent the weekend up in Dunedin, attending the monthly meeting my cake Decorating Club holds and helping out at my sisters baby shower!

I made these yummy cupcakes on Saturday and then iced them on Sunday morning. I used little blue fondant flowers as decorations as my sister is having a baby boy! It was a bit of a mission as there were about 30 people invited, so I made 32 cupcakes with only one 12 hole muffin tin...about 2 hours later I was finished!! It was worth it though, as most of them were gobbled up and the 20 or so business cards I left nearby had disappeared once it was clean up time.

The shower was so fun, my sister got some amazing presents - people are so generous!! My little nephew is gonna be the best dressed baby in town! I made her a mobile with sea creatures, a palm tree and a surf board on it (she has a surf board and her favourite movie is Blue Crush) she loved it!

Hope you all had a great weekend! What did you get up to?

Thrifty Friday // Cream and Gold Lace Dress

Cream and Gold Lace Dress - $9.50 Trademe

I'll happily admit, this is my favourite dress of all time. (So far!) It looked pretty when I bid on it on trademe and I was so excited about it's arrival in the post!

It far excceded my expectations, it is absolutley gorgeous. It only has a lining on the top half, which would be an easy fix with a white slip underneath. It has bell sleeves and fits nicely.

Seriously, I would wear this dress on my wedding day!! with long, loose hair and some kind of boots on my feet - perfect!

What do you think? Do you have a favourite dress? What does it look like?

Outfit Post // Rebel Pink

Thrifted Pink + Leather Jersey - Savemart Invercargill, Sheer Black Dress - Glassons,
Black Fleece Lined Tights - Won from NZgirl and Razzamatazz,
Black Boots - The Warehouse, Silver Unicorn Earrings - The Warehouse,
Cupcake Ring - Etsy

I had intended to go buy office products yesterday. In particular a white memo cube, which was hard to find. After talking to a friend about where I could find one, I headed to the local Office Max store. Wouldn't you know, to my surprise, across the road was a Savemart!

For those that don't know, Savemart is kind of an up-scale op-shop. Usually I steer clear as I find the prices to be too high for the clothing on offer, but I'm glad I took a look as I found this cool jersey for $8!

It has a label "made in Christchurch" in the inside and with it's leather panels and shoulder pads it's definitely a statement piece. Lately I've been finding myself torn between dressing like a rock-band-groupie and wearing frills and lace, I kinda like that this is bright pink but with a dark side!! Oh yes, also, it has been raining ALL WEEK!! That's Spring in NZ for ya I suppose!

I'm gradually finding my way around Invercargill. Today I ventured to Spotlight and was pleased to find it's much better stocked and has a cleaner layout than the Dunedin Store! I have a few more op-shops to visit and I've driven past some other ones that I'll have to go find again. I'm going back up to Dunedin this weekend for my sisters baby shower, I've got a bunch of cupcakes to make and a sea creature mobile to finish!!

What do you think of the jersey? What awesome finds have you found lately? What have you got planned for the weekend?

Wishing Well // Cowboy Boots

If you have been reading my blog for awhile you'll know I have a fondness for boots - 1 pair in particular! I want to find a new pair for Summer so I can clomp around in pretty dresses and cowboy boots.

I can't decide if I want black or brown, normally I'd gravitate towards black so I'm a little worried I wouldn't wear brown ones if I bought them...argh! decisions!!

So this little feature is another addition to my blog - well, more like bringing back an old feature! A little wishlist of things I want/need/admire...

What are you looking out for this season? I'm kind of sad Winter is over, I love dressing up all cosy and warm!

Cake Day Monday // Purple and Orange

This lovely montage is via this website - I love the colour scheme! It kind of reminds me of Morocco - full of rich, spicy colours. I would love to make a cake with this colour scheme in mind!

Cake Day Monday is the first of a few new bloggy features I've come up with. I think it will help me keep a better routine for my blog and ensure I'm getting a good variety of content up on here.

The Rugby World Cup is in full swing here in New Zealand, there are colourful flags, people and camper vans everywhere! I've accidentally spent the majority of the weekend watching rugby actually! Of course I couldn't miss the All Blacks first game against Tonga on Friday night! I hope we get to the final.

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekends - what did you get up to?

Outfit Post // Floral Winds

Long Black Cardigan - Kmart, Floral Shirt - Mosgiel Salvation Army, Black Skirt - Kmart,
Purple Tights - Farmers, Black Boots - The Warehouse,
White Rose Earrings - The Warehouse

I always thought I couldn't do florals - until I found this shirt! It's sheer, light and peppered with purple, pink and green flowers.

I have been in Dunedin all this week and I did a terrible job of packing! I managed to forget to bring any cardigans, forgot my slippers and only bought 1 skirt. Luckily I managed to pick up both the skirt and cardigan I'm wearing pretty cheap so I was able to mix up my outfits a bit.

Dunedin has been having Wellington-strength winds for the last couple of days which makes an interesting change! And challenging taking-photos-in-the-wind-wearing-a-skirt-moments!!

I hope everyone is having a fun weekend, I've been busy planning my sisters baby shower which has been exciting!

Dreamy Interiors // Dressing Room

Dream Dressing Room

One thing I would love in my dream house would be a dressing room especially or me! Now ideally  would love a walk in wardrobe type-thing, but of course thats a bit hard to find in our price range!

So if everything goes to plan I would love a little room where I can have my dresser, a mirror, a clothes rack for my favourite pieces to hang on, a little sewing table with my sewing machine and a few sparkley bits and bobs. I would also include a comfy chair to relax on and a couple of cushions and a throw blanket!

I figured this would go down well with the bf as it would keep the master bedroom so much tidier! Win-win?

What do you think? Do you have a walk-in wardrobe or dressing room?
