Outfit Post - Leopard in the Black

Black Coat - Shop on Taieri, Leopard Print Shirt - Mosgiel Salvation Army, Tutu Tulle Skirt - Recycle Boutique, Boots - The Warehouse, Suitcase Bag - Recycle Boutique, "Love" ring - Lovisa

Finally a new outfit post! I have been waiting patiently all week for a clear patch in the weather. Finally today it wasn't raining at lunch time, so I rushed out to take some pictures.

This spot is close to where I have taken other outfit photos before, such as these ones. Its such a good spot!! There was a bit of traffic today so I was constantly running to grab my tripod from the middle of the road. I'm pretty happy with the photos though!

It was pretty windy so I ended up with some action shots. I'm wearing my new favourite coat I found at the Shop on Taieri the other day. I'm basically living in it!! I'm also wearing my new tutu skirt which is so fun - I love feeling like a ballerina. My bag is also from Recycle Boutique, it's kind of like the satchel I was after ages ago. It fits my camera perfectly meaning I can carry it around with me all the time, and I know its safe because the bag is pretty rigid, like a mini suitcase!

I'm going to the ID fashion show tomorrow night, which I'm so excited about!! I can't wait. I went to the Emerging Designer show last night and it was awesome - there was young designers from NZ, Australia and Europe there, and a whole range of different collections, 26 in total!! Check out the local paper, the ODT for some pictures.

I have to photograph the item I'm going to give away to you guys, I'll get it done tomorrow so check back later in the weekend!!

Dance Review - Chocolate Zucchini Cookies

Photo taken (on my iPhone) during "Chocolate Zucchini Cookies" at the University of Otago

I'm sorry readers!! It has been quite a while since I last posted. Blame the bf "needing" to download a new Zombie map for his PlayStation for that, which used almost a whole months worth of Internet...

Well I have had a busy few weeks. Last weekend I reviewed Chocolate Zucchini Cookies, which was part of the Dunedin Fringe Festival 2011. I was a little apprehensive about it, as it was a bit different to the norm I was used to. I have to say though, it was AMAZING. So much work must have gone into selecting locations, selecting music and choreographing the dances. A lot of it was without music, and the performance flowed between different groups by head-nods or even just a look.

You can check out my review here, on the Theatreview website. Getting to see these amazing, unique performances is definitely one of the reasons I keep up with these reviews!!

In upcoming posts I will share some of my latest op-shop finds, including an awesome gold-thread jersey and a black tulle tutu skirt - I'm in love!!

I've also just joined Twitter - you can find me over on the sidebar ----> follow me and I will follow you!! I'll update latest clothing finds, photos and what I'm up to. This week I'm going to ID Fashion week, so look out for that!!

Dance Review - Pinocchio and Verdi Variations

I spent my Saturday evening at the ballet with my little sister last night. I had offered to review the Royal New Zealand Ballet company's "Tutus on Tour" season for the Theatreview website, which thankfully was still able to come to Dunedin even though the usual venue was under renovation.

This year the RNBC presented Pinocchio and Verdi Variations. I thoroughly enjoyed both pieces, each with their own stand-out performances. My favourite bit was when Pinocchio and Geppetto were reunited inside a huge whale - the whale was made of shiny see-though material and was lit from the inside so you could watch the scene happening through the body of the whale. Pretty cool!

You can check out my review here. I love getting to see all these different shows and giving my opinion on them!! Next weekend I am reviewing "Chocolate Zucchini Cookies" as part of the Dunedin Fringe Festival, so keep an eye out for that.

It's Otago Anniversary Day on Monday so I get an extra day off this weekend!! It has also been the 150th celebration of the Gold Rush so our city centre was transformed into a shanty town yesterday afternoon.

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekends!

The First Touch of Winter

Sweater Cape - Salvation Army Op Shop, Jeans - Kmart
Stud High Tops - The Warehouse, Plain Ring - Thieves Alley Markets,
Bow Earrings - Diva

I woke up to a summery 4 degrees this morning, the coolest it has been so far this year! Although the forecast predicted a temperature rise during the day, I couldn't resist wearing my new acquisition - this gorgeous, cosy, cape-like jersey I found yesterday at the Salvation Army Store.

I went for a cruise on the route my Dad taught me to drive on last year, and after some dirt roads and train tracks stopped at this quiet little spot to take my photos. The only interruption was a huge tractor that I thought was a train going past until it roared around the corner - heart attack!!

I hope you'll notice my new buttons I have included up the top by my banner - click on them to check out all the posts labelled with the headings shown!! They took me hours to figure out, but I got there in the end and I'm pretty happy with the result.

I'm so close to 30 followers, I can't believe it!! Thanks so much everyone, I'm willing that number over the 30 mark, I can't believe how many I've gathered lately. Thank you!!

All A-glow in Silver and Bronze

I was supposed to update yesterday, but after a long day at the show helping out and a dinner date with friends I was ready for a decent sleep!

The show went really well for the Sugarcraft Club, we had pretty good numbers through the doors and 20 new people interested in taking classes!! The woman who runs them is considering starting a new class just to keep up with the demand. Kids and adults loved decorating their own cupcake or biscuit and voting for their favourite piece at the show.

I arrived on Saturday morning to check out how my entries went in the competition. I knew my floral spray was slightly too large (I wanted to use all the flowers I had made!) and my wedding cake would have looked better with a larger board, and these were reflected in the judges comments. Overall she thought my flowers were "beautiful" and my Bride and Groom were gorgeous and had "character" I received a bronze award (73 points) for my floral spray, a bronze award (78 points - 2 off a silver!) for my wedding cake and a SILVER (81 points!!) for my pettinice entry. I had to be happy with that!!

Photos of all my entries are included over at Sequin Corner Cakes. A few other people from my class also entered, and almost all of them either received bronze or silver awards too. Our teacher was so happy with all of us!

I hope everyone has had a great weekend, I'm looking forward to a weeks worth of early nights!

I made a Wedding Cake

This is the cake I made to enter the competition being held by my cake decorating club. I have included my other entries on my other blog, Sequin Corner Cakes, but I am so proud of this one I had to post it here too!

I made all of the flowers from gumpaste, and the Bride and Groom are made from fondant with a hardener added so they set faster. I am so happy with the final result! I had to drop off my entries this afternoon and tomorrow morning I will head over there to see how I went. The other entries look amazing so there's some stiff competition!!

Have a great weekend guys, I'll update with the results tomorrow!

Got my Red Shoes on Honey

Shoes - Made from coloured gumpaste, with plastic sparkley diamantes attached. Roses also made from gumpaste. This was my first attempt at a pair of shoes, not bad right? The best bit is, you can keep them as they are solid as a rock, they will be fine in a dry cardboard box for as long as you like.

I have more photos of the cakes I made on Sequin Corner Cakes.

These are by far one of the coolest things I have learnt to make so far. Next I'm making a clutch bag - gotta love edible fashion!! ;)
